How do we help our youth?

For more than 20 years, Children Are People, Inc. (CAP) has inspired hope and transformed the lives of thousands of young people throughout Sumner County, Tennessee. Our passionate and extraordinary volunteers and staff members work tirelessly to unlock the potential of at-risk youth, through:

REMOVING barriers to success2021-08-17T15:48:32+00:00

CAP provides a safe, nurturing environment where at-risk children can live up to their potential.

INSPIRING character development2021-08-17T15:53:26+00:00

CAP teaches students accountability, and the importance of acting with honesty, truthfulness and integrity.

STRENGTHENING academic abilities2021-10-13T21:19:19+00:00

CAP provides tutoring, mentoring and other resources that help students overcome academic obstacles and achieve goals.

ENCOURAGING community involvement2021-08-17T15:50:47+00:00

CAP gives students the tools they need to become ethical, empowered and involved citizens.

CAP provides a safe, structured space where kids can learn, play and flourish—without charging fees to families. CAP would not exist without the support of local businesses and people like you, because our mission depends on, and is fueled by, support and funding from the community … rather than the government.

Refer a Student to CAP

Connecting an at-risk child with CAP can happen in several ways. Children may be referred by schools, churches, the courts or other organizations who serve youth and their families.

Also, if you know a child who would benefit from participation in structured afterschool activities, or who would flourish from tutoring, mentoring or attention from a positive, caring adult role model, please print and complete the Student Referral Form or pick up a form at the CAP Center: 117 East Winchester Street, Gallatin, TN.

Meet Our Graduates

Academic success is not limited to tests and textbooks. To reach higher levels in academia, students must maintain a complete profile that includes societal values, interests in and out of the classroom and tangible goals for both school and life.

Through hard work, dedication and diligence, our students have accomplished more than many would have once thought possible. And now, they have an opportunity to succeed at the next level, and we could not be prouder.

You may wish our students luck on the road ahead as they embark on their new journeys. But with everything they have already learned, the experience of hardships overcome and their goals firmly established … we have a feeling they won’t need luck to go where they want to go.
